The most awaited cricket tournament Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 is finally confirmed to start. All the cricket fans in India were eagerly waiting for the IPL 2020 to start soon and now it is going to start in a few months. The dates of IPL have been postponed due to the spread of COVID-19 in India and some other countries of the world.
According to PTI sources, the IPL 2020 is going to start on November 8. It will be of 51 days and the final match of the tournament with be played on 19 September. All the matches of the IPL will be played not in India but in the United Arab Emirates.
However, the matches and its dates have not been decided yet and he IPL Governing Council will meet next week to prepare the final details and approve the schedule. According to BCCI sources, it is understood that the BCCI has informally informed the franchisee about the plan.
This news was confirmed by a senior BCCI official to PTI. He stated, “The IPL will start on September 19 (Saturday) and the final will be held on November 8 (Sunday). The tournament will be played for a period of 51 days as this period will be suitable for franchisees and other Broadcasters.”
The fans were eagerly waiting for the date of the stat of IPL. However, the IPL is made possible only after the ICC’s decision to postpone the men’s T20 World Cup which was going to held in Australia. The world cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic and will be held next year. The postponing of the T20 world cup opened the gates of IPL to held.
The start of IPL 2020 will be after about two months as It is expected that each team needs at least one month of time for training and be prepared for the tournament. All the cricketers are in their homes for the last some months and are not doing their practice. So, they just need some time to prepare.
