Reacting to a farmer’s alleged demise by suicide at Delhi border, senior Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday slammed the centre for not accepting the protesting farmers’ demand of withdrawing the three contentious agriculture legal guidelines. He stated the Narendra Modi authorities has crossed “all the bounds of cruelty” and it should instantly repeal the legal guidelines.
“Sant Baba Ram Singh from Karnal died by suicide over the farmers’ situation at Kundli border. My condolences on this second of grief… many farmers have sacrificed their lives. Baba Ram Singh, the 65-year-old priest of a Gurdwara from Haryana who had joined the farmers’ agitation on the Delhi-Sonipat border final night, shot himself, the police stated. In an alleged suicide word, he had written that he was sacrificing his life “to precise anger and ache towards the federal government’s injustice”.

“Anguished to listen to that Sant Baba Ram Singh ji Nanaksar Singhra wale shot himself at Singhu border in Kisan Dharna, farmers’ struggling. Sant ji’s sacrifice will not be allowed to go in useless. I urge GOI to not let state of affairs deteriorate any additional & repeal the three agri legal guidelines,” tweeted senior Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal.
